Urgent Call for Action to The Malaysian Indian Members of Parliament and ADUNs’: The Time for Economic participation of Indians is now. Stop the racial exclusion of Indians from mainstream economic development.
Honorable Members of Parliament,
The Indian community’s place (if at all) in RMK 13 is at a critical juncture, and it is imperative that you rise to the occasion with urgency and purpose. You cannot stand by in silence while the most marginalized members of our society continue to struggle. The time has come for you to demand that the Madani government delivers an economic plan tailored specifically to uplift the downtrodden Indian community, and that plan must be unveiled in the upcoming RMK-13 expected to be unveiled this October in Parliament. Hindraf and MAP President Waytha Moorthy has started the ball rolling with a modest request of 1% of the annual budget ie RM5 Billion per annum for 2026-2030 RMK 13 plan.
Let us be clear: during Waytha Moorthy’s tenure as a minister, many of you stood by while his efforts were actively undermined by forces within your PH which wanted to see him fail.
Rather than supporting him in his vital ministerial role, the Indian members of Parliament and ADUNs’ aligned themselves under the guise of IAAC (Indian Affairs Advisory Council) grouping and obstructed the well-grounded work of Waytha Moorthy that could have brought real and remarkable change to the Indian community. It was a disservice, not just to him, but to the 1.8 million downtrodden Indians who were highly hoping for progress.
Now, you have a responsibility—a duty—to rectify that failure. The Indian community deserves more than just empty promises of PMX. They need a focused, actionable, and meaningful economic agenda that addresses their needs directly.
I urge you to reactivate the function of your IAAC (Indian Affairs Advisory Council or form a dedicated committee within Parliament members irrespective of race, representing the interests of the Indian community), and immediately call on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to direct his economy minister to give prioritized attention to an Indian-specific economic plan. This must be a clear, well-resourced initiative with tangible outcomes, and it must be prioritized in the upcoming RMK 13 unveiling. No more delays, no more excuses.
We have seen time and again how political maneuvering and personal agendas have blocked meaningful progress. This is your moment to show that you stand with your community, that you are ready to act decisively, and that you will no longer allow the Indian community to be sidelined.
The time to act is now. Stand up, speak out, and ensure that the economic future of the Indian community is a priority in RMK 13.
