The phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words??? was brought back to us by a reader of our X’mas posting Govt can make Christmas every day for everyone.
“the Malaysian flag, the little children, the candle lights illuminating their innocent faces.
and the big box - what future does it hold for our children?
The x'mas message of peace, love and goodwill is universal and we must make it our message every day in Malaysia.???
For our New Year message, instead of providing readers with more text, we are putting together a gallery of photos and graphics. The images reflect mixed feelings of optimism and pessimism, confidence and insecurity and joy and despair at what is taking place as our dreams and hopes alternately rise, and are shattered and disappointed.
From these images, we hope readers will be able to find and interpret their own stories relating to themselves, their loved ones and their communities and country.
The new year is not only a time for merriment and appreciation of the many good things that are found here, it is also a time for sober reflection of how demoralized and disunited we are as a people.
Many failings continue to blight the future for ourselves and our children. We each and all need to fight the enemies of racial and religious moderation, tolerance and goodwill if we are to survive well. We need to insist that our leaders always follow the high ethical road, not the slippery religious or racial one. And most of all, we need to be the best examples possible to our children and friends of the right values and behavior for a compassionate and sharing society.
We are indebted to Teoh Jit Khiam (http://themanorfarmjournal.blogspot.com) for the expressive photos and Helen Hoh for the creative images.
