Malaysia-Taiwan Relations: Political Imperatives Prevailing

Malaysia’s relations with Taiwan are firmly based on the principle that there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of it. In May 1974, when the Malaysian government began diplomatic exchanges with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the Republic of China (ROC) had to close its consulate in Kuala Lumpur.
