An unknown quantum of this outflow is due to financial gains accumulated through corruption, kickbacks and other illegal means.
The sense of patriotism is a complex one but it does not include supporting your country and your government all the time. It can include supporting your country but not the government of the day....
This concession agreement was approved by the Federal Government in 2005. In fact, the Barisan Nasional government privatised the water industry to four different companies from 1996 onwards but this privatization has resulted in corruption..
